Small Books

Small Books is a publishing program that utilizes small corporate contributions to make substantial creative revenue for Portland writers, publishers, bookstores, and printers.  The program is elegant, equally beneficial to all creative parties and remains entirely within Portland’s city limits.

It works like this:  A corporate sponsor gives a $650 tax-deductable contribution and guarantees to purchase 50 copies of the Small Book they help to create ($500).  With that sponsorship Small Books produces 300 copies of a beautiful, limited edition book by a local author.  Each book is printed in Portland, signed and numbered by the author, and sold in local independent bookstores.

In return for their contribution, sponsors will get some space in the back of the book to explain who they are and why they choose to take part in the Small Books Program, and their logo and some information about them will appear on the back cover of the book along with a short thank you for their support.

For every dollar that a sponsor puts in $5.50 of creative revenue is created.  And our model distributes the profits fairly between all parties.  Sponsors will be given a chance to review 3 manuscripts and choose which one they’d like to sponsor.  We have made 2 Small Books so far and hope to do many more.
